Preparatory Courses for italian language Teachers in Rome, Florence and Milan
For those who teach Italian as a foreign language and would like to attend a course to improve their skills and knowledge about the last teaching methods, then the “Intensive Training Course” could be really useful.
The School Leonardo da Vinci, located in Florence, Rome and Milan, for several years now leader in the Italian teaching to foreigners, expressly created this course for those who chose to teach Italian as a foreign language and who wish to hone their abilities in the sector of foreign language teaching.
The course lasts 70 hours (54 lessons of theory and 16 of practice) and it’s divided into six lesson plans created to face the several and different needs of the participants. In addition, a part of the course will be entirely dedicated to a specific lesson plan in preparation for the exam for the DITALS certification achievement, a graduation given by the University for International Students of Siena, which certifies the ability level of the teacher of Italian as a foreign language.
It is possible to choose to attend this course in the schools placed in Florence (April 27th – May 8th), in Milan (March 2nd – 13th) or in Rome (May 18th – 29th).
So, this course offers all the necessary instruments to become a qualified and proficient Italian language teacher for foreign students, updated on the last teaching methods, included on texts and supports for teaching.
Moreover, to meet all needs of several foreign teachers of Italian language, this course is included in the projects SOCRATES Comenius/Grundtvig III of the European Community.
The “Intensive Training Course” therefore, is oriented towards everyone who chose to become a teacher of Italian as a foreign language and want the complete and updated training which the contemporary foreign language teaching requires.

Online free Spanish lessons WITHOUT sign-up?
I’m homeschooled and I’m really keen on learning some foreign languages for fun, and since I am pretty fluent in school French I decided to learn Spanish or Italian. I’m not American and so no-one I know can teach me Spanish and it’s not offered anywhere. So I just want to learn basic/conversational Spanish online.
But all the sites I’ve gone to either require payment or they’re actual “lessons” which I’ll have to make time for, and which I can’t really use. So does anyone know a site that simply has free, online, in-browser, basic lessons in Spanish? (Or any other foreign language really-Italian, German, Japanese, Korean, Tamil…)

Is it hard to teach yourself Italian?
I want to learn how to speak Italian, but my mom doesn’t want to buy me Rosetta Stone and she said that the only way I’m going to learn italian is if I teach it to myself. I already bought a Italian-English Dictionary and I know the days and months, but that’s about it. How hard would it be to teach myself?
I think the hardest part would be if the sentence structure differed from english, as far as learning words I think that it would just be a matter of memorization. Do you know of any second hand bookstores or thrift stores with a lot of books, you’d be amazed at the stuff you can find there. I’ve got one near my house that has books on how to learn Spanish, German and French. Do you know any Spanish or French? Spanish, French and Italian are all Romance Languages so they are somewhat similar, I have an Italian friend who says that she can go to Spain and France and get around okay because she knows Italian. ANYBODY WHO SPEAKS FLUENT ITALIAN?
Ciao, so I really want to learn italian fluent. if you speak fluent italian can you please tell me how long it took you, what you used and what you recommend as the fastest way to learn italian. also I have been thinking about maybe getting Fluenz? any ideas on that? and I have heard some bad things about rosetta stone.

Let me preface my answer by saying this: there is no method out there that will make you fluent on its own. I’ve recently tried Fluenz and this is my feeling. Like Rosetta it’s doesn’t work very well to give you the foundation of the language. Rosetta is even worse in the respect. I would say Fluenz is worth looking into once you have some basic conversational knowledge in your target language. I usually recommend Pimsleur to beginner students. If you want a method that focuses on conversational skills (and reading skills), Pimsleur is the reference imo. It’s a real confidence builder, which is essential for new students. You will learn to train your ear to understand natives (an essential part of early learning often overlooked by other methods), develop very good pronunciation and acquire the core structures and grammar of your new language. Once you are finished with Pimsleur, daily conversation in the language after completing Pimsleur is really ideal. But I also think that at that point, moving onto Fluenz is another possibility. On the forum you are able to post your notes and comments on the About Italian Language bulletin board and you will receive input from a variety of people who are enthusiastic about the Italian language.
When learning to speak a language like a native, you will need to forget your native tongue. Spending time in Italy speaking only Italian will help you speak as a native. If you want to read Italian, you can pick up an Italian newspaper and read the section that interests you most. The goal is to increase competency in Italian. To do that you must learn to think like an Italian, which means you will need to take off the training wheels so to speak. Get rid of those helpers, which are holding you back and hurt more than they help.
For instance bilingual dictionaries are a crutch. If your goal is to speak Italian, speaking English to your friends will be a waste of your time. You don’t want to make grammatical comparisons between English and Italian because it won’t help you achieve your goal. Every language has rules and forms, which are unique and sometimes illogical. If you want to speak with competence, translating back and forth in your head before speaking or reading is a fool’s errand, which will not get you anywhere.
