We eat simple foods: rice, bean, steak, milk, bread, green salad, vegetable and fruits. But we have McDonalds, PizzaHut and other places. I am learning European Portuguese as my boyfriend is from Madeira. However, i have found there arent many evenign classes or part time courses that i can attend in London as there seems to be a lack of interest in this particular language.

Does anyone have any tips or ideas on how i can learn the language accurately and prompt. As i am going back to Madeira with my boyfrien in August as it is his nephews christening and i want to be able to show his parents (who speak little english) the progress i have made.

I have said to my boyfriend he should start speaking to me in Portuguese, i am learning how to write it and his friends write to me in portuguese on a daily basis but the problem is remembering it as i dont use the language everyday. I am better at writing than speaking.

Any ideas or classes or tips would be much appreciated.

How is the security in Brazil, especially in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo? I want to live in Youth hostel or hostel family. How is the weather there in June, July and August? And I have never been out of east Asia. My parents won’t let there only-daughter out of there eyes. How can I persuade them? I am from TsingTao China and now studies in Canton. I love Latin culture. Who can give me some tips on traveling in Brazil in my summer holiday, including accommodations, courses, etc. I am a student major in Teaching Chinese as a foreign language in one of China top ten universities. u have to clear the first hurdle – your parents. if they dont, its pointless to talk brazil!
rio/paulo are like any big city. lots of good things, good people, good pickpockets, clever crooks,
living in youth hostel is safe. if u can get host family that will be fantastic.
if u can speak portuguese well, u wont have any major problem. you gotta be street wise. keep your money in the front pockets,special money belts. dont take $$ out in the public or open areas or crowded areas. keep passport safe. travel light. dont wear fancy clothes. dirty jeans, torn t-shirts will blend you with the people. no purses.
jun/jul/aug is cool. rio/paulo is hardly cold!
